CREW Network members work together!
CREW Greater Philadelphia Member Firms KSS Architects, Bala Consulting Engineers, The Harman Group, and Pennoni worked together to design and deliver Tangen Hall, a seven-story, 68,000-square-foot new academic building at the University of Pennsylvania. Home to Venture Lab, a partnership by the Wharton School, Penn Engineering, and the Weitzman School of Design, Tangen Hall centralizes Penn’s startup ecosystem and provides experiential learning opportunities to students. Tangen Hall acts as a “start here” button for students and alumni on campus and a beacon to the outside world of Penn’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The developer sought a team familiar with Penn’s standards and ability to work within a budget, which made KSS, Bala, Harman, and Pennoni go-to team members. Thanks to the team’s prior experience working together and with Penn, the team powered through an accelerated schedule and smoothly navigated COVID-19 construction delays to deliver a new hub for entrepreneurial activities at Penn. Of the collaboration, CREW Member and Partner at KSS Mayva Donnon said, “working with fellow CREW Members adds an additional level of trust and understanding to the team that certainly strengthens the outcome.”
